Learn to knit socks in Dungannon in our advanced beginner-level class. The idea of knitting socks can seem daunting but once you get into it you'll realise it's very achievable. In 3 sessions, Jill will guide you through every stage of knitting your very first sock: from using a stretchy cast on to tackling the heel to decreasing for the toe and finishing with kitchener stitch.

You'll learn in a relaxed and supportive environment and develop a foundational base of knowledge and skills so that you can continue to knit socks with confidence once the course has finished.

These classes will take place on Saturday mornings 10am-12pm in Dungannon Presbyterian Church Hall (not affiliated - classes are open to everyone). The dates are 24th Oct, 7th Nov and Sat 21st Nov. They are spread out to give you time to work on your sock at home, ready for the next step in each class.

You'll learn how to:

  • Measure up your foot for accurate sizing
  • Knit in the round using double pointed needles (DPNs)
  • Turn the heel
  • Make tidy decreases for the toe
  • Make an 'invisible seam' using kitchener stitch

We'll provide you with:

  • 2.5mm double pointed needles (DPNs)
  • 4 Ply Sock Yarn
  • Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits
  • (Feel free to bring your own knitting needles and 4 ply sock yarn if you wish)

If you have any allergies or dietary requirements please add a note to your order at checkout.
