This is our story
Knit Stitch Chill is a very special small business, borne out of personal heartache, suffering, and a desire to do and be more. Our mission is to help you craft your way to calm. We'll do that by inspiring you with stunning supplies from across all the fibre craft mediums including sewing, quilting, patchwork, knitting, crocheting, needle felt, embroidery and cross-stitch.
Our personal style toes the line between classic and modern and is a reflection of who we are and our commitment to quality - if we don't love it, we don't stock it. Sustainable and ethical practices are also important to us so you can expect to see us championing lots of independent small businesses and prioritising eco-friendly practices as far as we reasonably can.
We have very big plans for Knit Stitch Chill, however, as they say, Rome wasn't built in a day, so we're starting with our online shop, pop-up shops in Northern Ireland, and market and exhibition appearances around the UK.
We hope you feel right at home here and we are so appreciative of your support. We'd love to get to know you better - check out our Facebook and Instagram pages, sign up to our newsletter and make sure to share your makes with us. We can't wait for you to become part of our community.
My name's Jill and I'm the founder of Knit Stitch Chill. I know myself that craft is a powerful healer, offering a cosy and slow slice of life which doubles as therapy to build our mental health resilience, regardless of whether that was our original intention.
In 2024, my life turned upside down when my partner experienced a severe mental health crisis. Anyone who's been in a situation like that before will understand that it's a roller coaster for everyone involved. What grounded me enough to keep going through the dark, was the simple meditative might of knitting one stitch after another. I would take my sock knitting projects with me everywhere, from A&E waiting rooms, to break times at work, to sitting on the sofa wondering if we were going to make it through the day.
Coming out the other side of that made me confront how low I'd gotten too, and how much of myself and my own needs and ambitions I'd let slip to the wayside. Thankfully my partner was receiving the help he needed, and I moved back to my home place of County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, taking an impromptu career break by enrolling in a Master's degree.

All of these experiences combined were instrumental in the development of Knit Stitch Chill. Never in my life had I felt an entrepreneurial calling but I could see so clearly how there's a need for a small business like mine in a world where mental resilience is so low. So-called "Grandma" hobbies, like knitting and sewing, are in right now, but unless you've grown up around a family member who taught you, it can be hard to get started.
I'm committed to sharing all the positive benefits of crafting with as many people as possible. This is just the beginning, and I can't wait to see where the journey takes us.
